Veteran Spotlight Submissions

The Veteran Spotlight Program highlights veterans buried at the Fort Smith National Cemetery. Elementary/middle school children select a name and research the veteran to learn about his/her life and service to our country.

Christmas Honors is partnering with 1^st Lutheran School in Fort Smith, AR to create this year’s poster spotlights. Spotlight Posters include information such as:

• A summary of the veteran (who they are, what war they served in, where they served)
• Awards/Honors
• Photo(s) of the veteran, awards, etc.
• Maps of where they were from or where they served
• Infamous family connections
• What was going on in the world at the time, etc.

We are looking for veterans to pay our respect to by highlighting their service to our country. If you have a family member that you would like to nominate for this program, we’d love to hear from you! Just complete the form.

Requirements for Submission:

• The veteran must be buried at the Fort Smith National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
• The family must have the right to submit the person and be willing to provide information to the student creating the spotlight poster. There will be a couple of days/times designated for you to meet with the kids that will be learning more about your loved one. This can be done in person, by phone or zoom.
• Your submission serves as your approval for Christmas Honors and 1^st Lutheran School to share, publish and promote the poster.
